Cross-country skiing is often called a national sport of Finland along with hockey. Indeed, practically every Finn enjoys this winter activity from the first snow in November until the snow melts in April. Do you know that there are even so called skiing holidays (hiihtoloma) in Finnish schools and universities? At the end of February all Finnish children get one week off to spend it with their parents doing all kinds of winter sports.

Central Finland is a perfect place to do cross-country skiing. An hour of skiing in a hilly place or on a frozen lake will be a great way to spend time outdoors while seeing the beautiful nature and getting fit. There are many lit tracks, so with short winter days you manage to enjoy skiing at any time. If you have no skis with you, you can rent all the necessary equipment at resorts.
