Laukaa is a municipality of less than 20,000 inhabitants, about 30 minutes’ drive from Jyväskylä. There were settlements in Laukaa more than 6,000 years ago, as evidenced by the rock paintings of Saraakallio.

In addition to Peurunka and Varjola, Laukaa has the world’s largest smoke sauna in Tupaswilla and the Järvilinna Art Centre. Gorgeous natural sites include the Hitonhauta Gorge and the hill of Hyyppäänvuori, with its spectacular views.
