Muurame is a town easy to reach and a town for all ages and for all seasons! It’s a nice location to spend a day but there are plenty of options to do if you have time for a longer stay.
In the 1920s, Alvar Aalto prepared many designs for church renovations. Of these, only the design for Muurame Church was implemented. Muurame Church is a white plastered church with Italian influences in the belfry and the loggia below the parish hall. Alternations were made to its interior in 1979.
Muurame is just a 15-minute drive from Jyväskylä in the direction of Tampere. Come and see the UkkoMetso light-artwork, play golf, enjoy some theatre or a nature trail excursion, or perhaps take a stroll up the Muuramenharju ridge. Various accommodation options are available including Riihivuori.
