A Spanish journalist Alvaro Laforet visited Central Finland and was amazed about the midnight sun and beautiful architecture of Alvar Aalto. Jyväskylä is the capital city of the world-famous architect Alvar Aalto – there are 28 Aalto destinations in the area.
Alvaro writes about the most important Alvar Aalto destinations you should visit. These include for example the university of Jyväskylä, Alvar Aalto museum, Säynätsalo city hall, and theater of Jyväskylä. All these destinations are designed by Alvar Aalto. Alvar Aalto’s design has also been inspiration for glass company Iittala’s Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva, so the design of Aalto can be found from almost every Finnish household.
Alvaro also writes, that Finland is known as the Land of thousand lakes, and Central Finland is part of the Finnish Lakeland, and that you can find UNESCO World Heritage sites like Petäjävesi Old Church from the area.
