Central Finland has a very impressive list of interesting places to visit ranging from museums and galleries to national parks. In terms of the cultural heritage, it is worth mentioning that Jyväskylä is famous for the work of the Finnish architect and designer Alvar Aalto. There is not a single place in the world with that large number of buildings designed by Aalto, whom many consider to be the most influential figure in Nordic design. In addition to this, the region has two UNESCO World Heritage sites – Petäjävesi Old Church and Oravivuori Trigonemtrical Tower, as well as a number of historical sites such as old manors and courtyards.
